Registrato and BC Protege+: check and block accounts in your CPF
Brazil's Central Bank offers free tools to list accounts, Pix keys and loans tied to your CPF and to block new accounts opened by fraudsters. Step by step.
If your documents were stolen, your data leaked or you received a bill for a debt you do not recognize, the key question is simple: is there an account or loan open in my name? In Brazil, the Central Bank offers two free tools. Registrato shows what already exists under your CPF (taxpayer ID), and BC Protege+ blocks new accounts from being opened without your consent.
What does Registrato show?
According to the official gov.br service page, Registrato provides free reports on:
| Report | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Accounts and relationships (CCS) | Banks and institutions where you hold an account |
| Loans and financing (SCR) | Debts, outstanding balance, type of credit and whether payments are current |
| Pix keys (current or full history) | Active, court-blocked, disputed or ported keys; the full report adds deleted keys |
| Foreign exchange and international transfers | FX operations tied to your CPF |
The current Pix keys report is immediate; the full history is available within 2 business days. The SCR loan report is free and confidential.
How do I access it?
- Have a silver or gold gov.br account with two-step verification turned on.
- Log in to Meu BC, the Central Bank citizen portal, and open Registrato.
- Download the accounts, loans and Pix keys reports and compare them with what you know.
- Save the PDFs; their authenticity can be verified, which helps with police reports and complaints.
What is BC Protege+?
Launched on December 1, 2025, BC Protege+ lets you declare that you do not want any checking, savings or payment account opened in your name. Institutions must query the Central Bank before opening an account, and with protection on they are told the holder does not want one, as reported by CNN Brasil. You turn it on or off instantly in Meu BC, and you can schedule it to switch back on the next day after opening a legitimate account. In its first hours there were 7,800 activations and 263 refused openings. It does not close existing accounts, so check Registrato first.
What if I find something I do not recognize?
- Contact the institution through its official channels and ask for closure and a protocol number.
- File a police report with the Registrato PDFs attached.
- Escalate to Consumidor.gov.br and the Central Bank if unresolved.
- Turn on BC Protege+ and strengthen your passwords and MFA.
Accounts opened with stolen data often become money mule accounts for Pix scams; see Pix fraud in numbers and more checklists in Tips.
How often should I check?
There is no official rule. A practical routine is to pull the Registrato reports after any lost document, stolen phone or data breach notice, and to keep BC Protege+ switched on whenever you are not opening an account. Companies can do the same for their CNPJ using a digital certificate linked to gov.br. People without internet access can request reports through the Central Bank's information request channel or by mail; there is no in-person service.
