Online betting and gambling scams:手法、警示信号与应对
Investment scams · médio
Social media profiles and messaging groups promote betting sites or online casinos with "guaranteed strategies", "paying hours" or "bots" that predict results. Many sites aren't authorised to operate.
The victim deposits via Pix, sees winnings on screen and, when trying to withdraw, hits blocks, "release fees" or demands for new deposits. Some platforms simply disappear.
Variants include fake tipsters selling "sure-fire tips", paid VIP groups and fake apps mimicking known betting brands to steal logins and data.
Sinais / Signs
- Promise of guaranteed winnings or "paying hours".
- Site without official authorisation to operate in the country.
- Fee or extra deposit required to withdraw.
- Influencer showing unrealistic winnings with an affiliate link.
- Sale of "tips" or VIP group access.
- Deposit Pix to an individual.
Prevenção / Prevention
- In Brazil, only bet on sites authorised by the Ministry of Finance (.bet.br domain).
- Remember that no strategy guarantees betting wins.
- Set a spending limit and never bet essential or borrowed money.
- Don't pay for tips or VIP groups.
- Download apps only from official stores.
O que fazer / What to do
- Stop depositing and don't pay "fees" to withdraw.
- Call your bank right away using the official number (back of the card or in the app) and ask to block cards, accounts and access.
- If you paid via Pix, ask your bank to open a MED (Special Return Mechanism) claim as soon as possible — time matters because funds move fast.
- File a police report (many Brazilian states accept online reports) and keep screenshots, receipts, numbers and links.
- Report the profile, ad or number to the platform (social network or messaging app) so it gets taken down and others are protected.
- If betting has become a problem, seek health support (in Brazil, CVV answers at 188 and the public health network offers care).
FAQ
How do I know if a betting site is legal in Brazil?
Authorised sites use the .bet.br domain and appear on the Ministry of Finance's list. Distrust anything else.
Is there a strategy to win at 'tigrinho' slot games?
No. Online casino games are based on chance; anyone selling strategies or "paying hours" is trying to profit from you.
