Clone investment firm scam:手法、警示信号与应对

Investment scams · alto

Fraudsters pose as an FCA-authorized firm, the UK financial regulator, copying its name, address, reference number and even its website with small changes. Contact comes by phone, email, newsletters, social media or after the person submits details online while searching for investments or loans.

They offer bonds, shares, FX or crypto that are non-tradable, worthless or non-existent. A common tactic is claiming that the firm's contact details on the official register are out of date. The FCA notes it updates its services on average every 24 hours and advises checking details on its Firm Checker and calling the number listed there.

FAQ

The firm appears on the FCA register. Does that make it safe?

Not on its own. Scammers clone real firms; confirm the phone, email and website match the register.

They said the phone number on the register is out of date.

The FCA considers this unlikely and it is a classic sign of a clone firm.
