Rug pull and memecoin pump-and-dump: كيف يعمل وعلامات التحذير وماذا تفعل

Crypto · alto

In a rug pull, creators launch a token or project (memecoin, NFT, DeFi protocol), attract buyers with aggressive marketing and, once there is enough money, pull liquidity from the pool or dump their large token reserve at once. In some cases the contract prevents buyers from selling (a honeypot).

In a pump-and-dump, a group buys an illiquid asset, promotes it heavily with promises of gains and sells at the peak to latecomers. Organizers' wallets often hold a large share of supply from the start.

Many such projects have no real product; the "roadmap" and announced partnerships exist only to keep the hype going.

Sinais / Signs

  • Anonymous team and no independent contract audit
  • A few wallets holding most of the supply
  • Liquidity not locked, or locked only briefly
  • Promises of "100x" and FOMO pressure from groups and influencers
  • Inability to sell or an extremely high sell tax in the contract

Prevenção / Prevention

  • Put into memecoins only what you can afford to lose entirely
  • Check token distribution, liquidity lock and audits on blockchain explorers
  • Be wary of paid influencer promotion without clear disclosure
  • Do not join groups coordinating "pumps"
  • Test whether you can sell a small amount before adding more

O que fazer / What to do

  • Record the contract address, creators' wallets and screenshots of the promotion
  • Report to IC3 (US) and the platform where it was promoted
  • In Brazil, file a police report and inform the CVM if it was offered as a public investment
  • Be wary of anyone promising recovery for a fee

FAQ

Is every memecoin a scam?

No, but the market is extremely speculative and hosts many rug pulls. Treat it as a high-risk bet.

What is locked liquidity?

Trading pool tokens are locked in a contract for a period, preventing creators from withdrawing them. It reduces but does not eliminate risk.
