Amazon impersonation scam (suspicious purchase call): كيف يعمل وعلامات التحذير وماذا تفعل

Social engineering · alto

A call, text or email warns of a suspicious purchase on your Amazon account. Caller ID may be spoofed. Once the victim engages, they are told their identity is being used for fraud, sometimes that their Social Security number was used to open accounts, and are passed to supposed government or court agents.

The FTC describes how the story escalates until the victim "protects" their money by transferring savings, with threats of arrest and demands for secrecy. Amazon states it does not ask for payment over the phone or by email, never asks you to buy gift cards and does not ask for remote access to your device.
